Membership Code of Conduct
The Membership Code of Conduct was approved during the Annual General Meeting held June 23, 2020. This Code has been created to define the ethical standards to be followed by all members, Council, all committees and all Centres. The Code's ethical concepts include respect, responsibility, fairness and honesty. All members must adhere to the Membership Code of Conduct at the time of joining or renewing their CMOS membership.Membership Fees (as of January 1, 2022)

Categories and eligibility
Regular: offered to anyone interested in meteorology or oceanography.Retired: offered to people who are no longer employed full-time.
Student: available to full-time students in Canada or abroad. Student membership will be changed to a regular membership if there is a change of address or after a maximum of five years.
Associate: available to members of AMS, AMOS, RMetS and CGU under an agreement approved by the CMOS Council. Proof of membership is required.
Sustaining: offered to those wishing to support CMOS.
Corporate: offered to companies and organizations. Each corporate member must appoint a person to act on its behalf in all dealings with CMOS. This person will have all the privileges of a regular member.
Admission to CMOS
A membership application must be submitted for any membership category. Applications are reviewed and approved by the CMOS Executive. The Executive Director then sends a welcome letter and assigns the new member to the nearest local Centre. Membership approved after September 1 will begin on the date of approval and end at the end of the following calendar year, unless otherwise specified in the application.
Membership Fees
Membership is for the calendar year, with fees due on January 1. Membership renewal notices are normally sent in October. Any member who has not paid his or her membership fee by March 31 will be temporarily excluded. A temporarily excluded member may be re-registered without further approval of the Executive Committee, provided he/she has not failed to pay fees for more than two years. For a longer delay, the member must submit a new membership application. Membership fees are approved the previous year by the Annual General Meeting.

- CMOS Bulletin SCMO: the Society's official bulletin, is available online at bulletin.cmos.ca and bulletin.scmo.ca. Content is updated regularly, and includes articles of professional interest and a variety of articles related to meteorology, climatology and oceanography. As a member, you can choose to receive electronic updates of the Bulletin, download and share the bimonthly compilation of articles in PDF format, and benefit from reduced advertising rates;
- ATMOSPHERE-OCEAN (A-O): the Society's main publication, issued four times a year. It contains original research results, summary articles and comments on published papers, in the fields of atmospheric and oceanic sciences, as well as hydrology. The print version includes online access;
- Congress programs and abstracts: published annually by the responsible Local Organizing Committee for the annual CMOS Congress, contains a session guide and schedule as well as abstracts of presentations and posters; and
- Annual Review: a document distributed to all Society members which summarizes the year's activities and presents the audited financial statements.
- Invitation to take part in specific local center activities.
- Participation in CMOS committees
- Opportunity to attend the annual congress at the reduced member rate
- Notification of matters of interest in meteorology or oceanography by mail, e-mail, website or regular publications.
- Access to the Members Only section of the website, as well as the member directory and other services
- Participation in the development of CMOS position statements and policies.

- Eligibility of consultants for CMOS accreditation
- Eligibility of weathercasters for CMOS endorsement
- Access to up-to-date information on the programs and initiatives of partners such as CNC-SCOR, IUGG, PAGSE, CCR and others.
