Oceans Ltd. operates a 24/7 weather forecasting office from its St. John’s location with an additional weather office at its Halifax location. Currently, the company is the major provider of weather forecasting services to the oil and gas industry in Atlantic Canada.
Oceans Ltd. is seeking applications for a weather forecaster for the St. John's office.
Minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree in meteorology, or a bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics or related science along with a diploma or certificate in meteorology from an approved university. The successful candidate should also have a minimum of 2 years experience forecasting in a marine environment.
Additional assets include:
- professional training through the Meteorological Service of Canada (or equivalent)
- Experience in report writing
- Experience in preparing extreme value analysis’
- Proficiency in high level computer programming languages (particularly C/C++) and research abilities are desirable.
- Ability to work shift work
The ability to work shift work is essential.
