Air Quality Meteorologist

$62,718.94 - $71,507.64 annually effective February 3rd 2019.

Under the general direction of the Section Head, this position is responsible/required to conduct technical review of new and existing sources of air contaminants; provide interpretation of ambient air quality data for environmental protection and air quality management; provide scientific and technical expertise on air quality issues and carrying out applied research programs aimed at understanding existing and emerging problems; formulating programs and alleviating air quality problems. Duties include evaluating the impact on the environment of new or existing sources of air contaminants, providing expert advice on air quality complaints and making recommendations on ambient air quality monitoring requirements during permitting and environmental assessment processes.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Masters of Science and 1 year directly related experience in air quality management OR
  • Bachelor of Science and 3 years directly related experience, which includes 3 years experience in air quality management OR
  • Technical Diploma and 5 years directly related experience, which includes 3 years’ experience in air quality management.

Directly related experience means experience in all of the following areas:

  • designing data acquisition programs to assess impact of point and non-point sources of air contaminants
  • providing interpretation and assessment of emissions and meteorology on ambient air quality for environmental management
  • writing technical reports and memos
  • performing analysis of air quality and meteorological data
