Terms of
Reference
1. To inform
students of
the benefits
of being a student member of CMOS, and provide background information
and
application forms as required.
2. To ensure that
students have
adequate
information on local and national CMOS meetings, and encourage them to
attend meetings and make presentations locally and at annual
Congresses.
3. To encourage students
to
submit scientific,
technical, and opinion articles for publication in both the CMOS
Bulletin
and Atmosphere-Ocean.
4. To encourage and
arrange for
students
to participate as judges in regional school Science Fairs on behalf of
CMOS.
5. To canvass students on
an
on-going informal
basis to determine what other benefits and/or services that students
would
like CMOS to provide to them.
6. To make periodic
recommendations to
Council based on their findings.
Mode of Operation:
The
Committee will normally work and make regular contact by e-mail, and
hold
a formal meeting of its members or their proxies at the annual
Congress.
Local contact with students will be conducted by e-mail, at centre
meetings,
and by other personal contact.
Membership: A
student Chair
will be chosen at the annual Congress meeting. The committee shall
consist
of one student member from each CMOS Centre, elected annually at the
Centre
AGM.
Committee Level:
This is
a Council-appointed Committee. The Chair of this committee will be a
member
of CMOS Council.
Report: The
Committee will
produce an annual report in accordance with Appendix III to the By-Laws.
Other: Funds
'may'
be allocated
to assist the Chair to attend the annual Congress.
