POLICY ON TENURE
OF MEMBERSHIP
IN CMOS
Tenure of
membership
Tenure is for life
When a person first applies for a
certain
category of membership in CMOS, the application is reviewed by the
Corresponding
Secretary and approved by the Executive. Except for students,
membership
is retained for an unlimited period of time. .
Student membership
Student membership is transformed
into
regular membership upon a change of address, a written request to
change
to regular membership, or after a maximum period of five years unless a
new duly completed application form is submitted for an extension.
Change of category
Change from regular to other
category
of membership may be effected by written request.
Suspended membership
- Suspension of membership
occurs if the annual
dues are not paid by 31 March of the current year. A warning will be
sent
to delinquent members, announcing the Suspended status. The warning
will
be repeated for one more year.
- Suspended members enjoy none
of the privileges
of membership for the years for which dues were not paid.
- Suspended members will be
reinstated to full
membership without re-approval by the Executive by payment of dues.
Termination of membership
Termination of membership occurs at
the
end of two years of Suspended status, or by resignation, or for cause
by
decision of Council. Any future application for membership will be
treated
as a new membership application.
Buy back of years of service
A suspended or terminated member may
apply
to the Executive for reinstatement of lapsed years. If the application
is granted, the member will pay back all the missed dues. Back issues
of
