Manuscript Review Guidelines

To the reviewer:
 

If you have a conflict of interest with respect to this paper, you must inform the editor and refrain from reviewing. Conflicts of interest may include hierarchical or personal relationships with authors, interest in competing research, bias concerning the research or any other situation from which you might benefit professionally or otherwise by recommending publication or rejection of this manuscript.

Here are a few questions to guide you through your review; you may comment as you wish.

A) Sections of the manuscript

1) Is the title appropriate?
2) Does the abstract explain the content clearly and concisely?
3) Are the rationale and objectives clearly articulated in the introduction?
4) Is the methodology adequately described and appropriate to the stated objectives?
5) Is there a logical and complete progression in the development?
6) Are figures and tables appropriate to the content of the paper, helpful, well-designed and easy to understand?
7) Are citations and references utilized appropriately?
8) Are the conclusions well-supported and consistent with the stated objectives?
9) Does the paper cite appropriate literature and provide proper credit to existing work?

B) General appraisal

1) Does the paper represent an original, interesting and meaningful contribution to the topic?
2) Is the paper well-organized, concise, clear and easy to read?
3) What are the particular strengths and weaknesses of the paper, in terms of content and form?

C) Recommendations to the editor

1) Publish as is / Publish with minor or major revision / Reject
2) Highlight as a paper worthy of special note
